Five Minute Friday is a writing event that has hundreds of writers spending five minutes writing on the same topic and then sharing them at http://katemotaung.com/five-minute-friday/. This week's word is Notice.
In this season of Thanksgiving, we are reminded to notice what we have to be thankful for. I am thankful that my parents are celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary on the 28th and that I still have both of them. So many people my age have lost one or both of their parents. I am thankful that my sister is my best friend. I want to notice that even though it makes me crazy some days, I have a job that allows me to pay my bills and to have extra money to do things like go to my friend's wedding in Maine. I want to notice that I have a car that runs well, in spite of the fact that I neglect its upkeep. When I notice people walking in the increasing cold air, I am especially grateful for this.
But if I'm completely honest, when I think of the word notice, I think of this: I want people to notice me. I want to be noticed as a friend who takes care of pets at a moments notice. I want to be noticed as a friend who still sends cards on birthdays and special events. I want someone to notice me and realize how much better their life could be with me in it.
I know the first thoughts of notice are so much more important than my second thoughts. If I can just keep this in mind - God notices me - all will be well. If I can thank God for those things that I notice and ask for his guidance to show me the things that I'm not noticing, his presence will be the only thing I want and I won't even notice what I don't have. I will have everything I need.
Love your words today and you are so right. You will have everything you need.
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful post. [Love the FMF link-up because I'm also in awe of - and inspired by - everyone's perspective, and creative take on, the words.....].
