Five Minute Friday is a writing event that has writers spending five minutes writing on the same topic and then sharing them at http://katemotaung.com/five-minute-friday/. This week's word is Time.
Sometimes time feels like this, like we are in it. Standing inside it, watching life pass by. It is so easy to get stuck in a time - in our pain, in our hurt. We hear the ache tick away in our head like a giant clock.
Time, instead, is a gift. More time with family, more time to accomplish goals, more time to see the world. When you are hurting, it seems like time takes forever. One day turns into another day, turns into another day. When we hate a job, the five days of time that make up a work week seem to go on forever. But those five days are also a gift. Because these days, a job is not a guarantee.
I want to see time as gift, not as a chore. I want to be on the other side of it, wishing there was more of it. Making the most of every hour, minute, and second instead of wishing them away.
I want to move past the pain and the hurt. I want to drown out the ticking of the ache with laughter and music. I want to count the life in my minutes, not the minutes in my life. I want to cherish time.
May God lead you through the pain and hurt and heal you. MAy you come to savour time. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Thank you Drusilla!
DeleteI enjoyed your post Andrea. Your thoughts so resonated with me today. Love the word picture of seeing time as a gift not a chore and not wishing to be on the other side. Here's to living in the moment and making the most of it! Thanks for sharing your heart!
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading!
DeleteAndrea,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you are hurting. It is amazing how time is relative to what we are going through, but the fact that it does keep on ticking away is a blessing. I lost my dad almost 7 yrs ago and it IS easier today to think of him now than it was at first (even though it still hurts).
I pray that you feel the closeness of the Comforter as you go through this hard season.
Blessings,
Selena
Lovely post, Andrea. This is such a great reminder to cherish our time rather than anxiously wait for it to past; to learn from our waiting rather than wish it away. Thank you for sharing your heart! Your FMF Neighbor,
