The east coast is bracing for Hurricane Sandy, a storm that
some have dubbed “Frankenstorm” because it may hit near Halloween. Here in
Oklahoma, we’re in tornado alley so I know how people in the path of storms
feel. Luckily, in Oklahoma, they can track very precisely where these storms
will hit and after a few hours, we are in the clear. I can’t imagine what it
must be like to be in the path of a hurricane—the days of dread, the cleared
grocery store shelves, the aftermath of downed trees and power lines. Today I
am very glad to live in the middle of the country, away from hurricanes. My
thoughts and prayers go out to those in the path of Sandy.
